One thing I love about Jennifer Lopez’s success story is that she did not allow the voice of people to suffocate the voice inside of her.
Somethings on our way to success, one of the barriers we need to overcome is the voice of people. People can discourage you to the point that you will leave your dream and become mediocre just like them.
If you don’t create resistance and immunity to the voices of people on your journey to success, you will definitely back off easily.
Jennifer Lopez went as far as leaving the house and she was sleeping on the sofa in the dance studio just to see her dream come true.
Many times we see successful people, especially celebrities and we just assume that they were lucky and they got lucky.
We call them lucky because we think that they were born rich, and we forget that luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
Just like everybody else, they struggled, they had failures and disappointments, they were judged, bullied, and nobody believed in them.
Today I am going to lite up someone’s mood again with the Jennifer Lopez success story.
Jennifer Lopez was born in the bronze and lived in a very small apartment, when she was just 5 years old she began taking singing and dancing lessons.
in her final year in high school, she was cast in a low-to-budget movie, it was then she realized that she wanted to become a famous movie star, but to please her parents she put her dream on hold for a while and went to college.
She dropped out after one semester and decided that it was time to chase her dream and that nothing will stop her.
When she told her parents that she wanted to become a movie star, she didn’t get the support she was hoping for.
Her parents insisted that it was a really stupid idea and no Latinos did that, because of the different opinions Jennifer Lopez moved out of their family house determined to become a star and it didn’t take long to prove her mom wrong “my mum and I butted heads,
She didn’t want to go to college, She wanted to try dance full-time so she and she had a break. Jennifer Lopez started sleeping on the sofa in the dance studio, I was homeless but I told myself “this wants I want to do”
This was not an easy period of her life, she struggled severely in the early days as a dancer making no money whatsoever.
She said“I remember only getting to have one piece of pizza every day when I was a dancer…that is how I lived. I did that for a couple of years before I got my first big job. I wouldn’t trade it for the world”
In 1990 after a period of work as a dancer and actor in some musicals she won a national competition and earned her role as one of the fly girls in the comedy series “in living color”
Today, Jennifer Lopez is one of the most famous entertainers in the world, she is an incredibly talented singer, dancer, actor, producer, and fashion designer.
She has been in over 30 movies, has 8 studio albums, and won many awards with record sales of 80million .she is the most influential Hispanic performer in the united states.
In 2012 Forbes ranked her as the most powerful celebrity and 38th most powerful woman in the world with a net worth of $400 million, but at the beginning of her career she really struggled with low self-esteem even when she was becoming more and more famous
Jennifer Lopez said “I don’t let the opinion of others really influence how I think about myself and that took a long time because in the early part of my career I did and it made me feel terrible about myself”
“I’m killing it, and then everybody is like she can’t sing, she can’t dance, she can’t act she is just some pretty face or her butt is big or whatever they were saying all sorts of things about me and I started thinking yeah that is true and it really hurt me for a long time”
She didn’t let the voices of other people suffocate the voice inside her and she didn’t give up she said ” I could not allow myself to let that become who I was, I was like no I am going make another record.
I’m gonna make another song, I’m gonna make another movie, I’m a great actress, I’m a great singer, I’m a great dancer, I’m great at this stuff, and I’m gonna keep going and I did, and that’s all I did I just kept going”
“I just started working harder and harder than everybody else. I started believing in myself. I started believing in the fact that I wasn’t an imposter, that I wasn’t fake”
Positive self-talk and hard work helped motivated her when her confidence was really low “
She said” feel proud that I’ve survived as long as I have in this business. At this point in my life, I’m trying to give myself more credit.
It’s hard when people are always telling you that you’re not good at things or saying “why is she successful”?
This is not a mistake I worked hard to be here and you know what? Congratulations to myself not in an arrogant way
Jennifer Lopez is one of the best motivational success stories. as a young singer and actress, she was told she could never make it.
She was constantly being told to give up on her dreams because she is not good enough. but she choose to believe in herself and worked really hard to become who she is today.
Look in the mirror and ask yourself, at what point in your life do you stop believing in yourself and stopped chasing your dreams because you thought you are not talented enough.
