Early 1977, Chimamanda was born into the family of Ngozi Adichie on 15 September 1997, Enugu State.

Chimamanda’s early life started when moved with her parents to Nsukka Nigeria with her six other siblings. They are six in number, and she is the fifth child. She studied Medicine and Pharmacy there before her educational background transcended her to the U.S. to study communication and political science at Eastern Connecticut State University.

Afterward, she gained admission into Hopkins University, Baltimore, and got an MA in creative writing.

Chimamanda’s writing ranges really from short stories, novels, and storytelling. Her first poetry was Love of Biafra in 1998, she has her other novels and stories published in literary journals.

Another novel that brought her into lamplight was Purple Hibiscus, published in 2003 and was set in the political turmoil of the 1990s in Nigeria. The story in this book is from the perspective of 15-year-old Kambili Achike.

This story won the 2095 Commonwealth writers prize(Overall winner, as the best book), and was tagged: The 2004 Orange Prize for fiction.

Chimamanda has won several prizes including girls round ground award groundbreaker, Layton literary prize US, Thursday Award New champion for an enduring culture.

All these false comments and discouragement still did not weigh a beautiful writer down. When she started writing her first novel, she was a student. Her first novel was Purple Hibiscus, and it won her an award.
